As I write this post I am still migrating to Google+ and is currently a big Facebook user.  Therefore, as I write about this topic I am learning along with you the benefits both.

As we all know, there are a large number of social networking options that one can pursue.  Deciding which ones to utilize can be a challenge for some, to say the least.  When you look at Facebook there is a long history of business success, whereas, Google+ is backed by some of the most powerful resources in e-business. So, do you use both or do you just pick one and focus your marketing efforts there is the question.

Facebook Fan Pages

If you are in business, having a Facebook fan page is as much a requirement as having a website whether your business is online or not.  Of course, you can certainly grow and be successful without one, but many web users now look for their favorite businesses in a place they already frequent – Facebook.

Facebook is one of the biggest source of  important news and information in a person’s life today, so by not having a fan page, you are missing the chance to be a part of the  news that they receive.

Google+

Google+ is not to be overlooked, either. Drawing on the power and reach of Google, Google+ is bound to be a long-term success. The target audience tends to be a little bit different too, so by using both, you have a larger audience and market reach.

For more information on Google+ take a look at this article 9 Reasons to Switch from Facebook to Google+.

With that said, both are going to be very useful and effective tools for the type of business that needs to target a larger audience and keep up with the times.   I would suggest experimenting with both to see which gives you the best results for the time invested.

Do not neglect the benefits of social media marketing,  because it is becoming the most popular way for businesses to stay connected current customers as well as prospects.
